June 10 – Friday Family Feast
June 11 – Saturday Kermesse

As a major event in our Parish calendar, the annual Kermesse brings everyone together as one big family to help raise funds for the many outreach programmes of the Parish. Come & be counted!

HOW TO HELP?

  • SUPPORT OUR KERMESSE LOTTERY TICKET SALES! Tickets are CHF5 each. Booklets contain 10 tickets (CHF 50 per booklet). Tickets are on sale after all Masses every week in May with fabulous prizes on offer! Come & buy tickets, and help sell them!
  • WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING DONATIONS! Beginning May 1 (Sun), the Parish will accept all your donations of books, clothing, stuffed toys (nothing with batteries) & new or almost new items for our Boutique Stall. Please label your donation properly to facilitate sorting. DROP-OFF POINT: Room G1 (Main Hall)
  • BEEF UP OUR AUCTION THIS YEAR!!!! Donate Ministry Baskets for our silent auction. We welcome donations of dried foods, jars, jams and any items that could make up food hampers from around the world, and any other auctionable items.
  • DONATE AMERICAN CANDIES!If you are vacationing to the States, and can spare some space in your luggage, please bring back a variety of American candies (e.g., bubble gum, lollipops, sip & chew straws, ring pops, etc) for our Kermesse Kids’ Corner this year.
  • SPREAD THE WORD! Invite your family, friends, relatives and officemates to put our event in their calendars and to pass the word to others. Print and distribute the Kermesse flyer. Getting a lot of people to come to our Kermesse is key!

Save the date! This year, our Parish General Assembly will take place on Jun 16 (Thu) from 19:00-21:00. A significant moment during this year’s General Assembly will be dedicated to thank those who have, in any way, volunteered their time and talents to the service of our Parish Community. So all you who have generously helped out in any way, please come! More information to follow.


Parish Garden

Thank you to all who planted their sunflower seedlings in our parish garden. The garden is an initiative of the Laudato Si Community, and is an expression of the Parish’s efforts to put into practice the challenges proposed by Pope Francis’s encyclical Laudato Si. Here is some pictures of the planting of our sunflowers:

The PPC will meet on May 30 (Mon) from 18:30-20:30 in Room B1. All chairpersons and coordinators of the various Parish ministries and affiliated groups, as well as any interested parishioners are encouraged to attend. Kindly RSVP to the Parish Office (office@johnxxiii.ch).


euministersSolemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ

On the weekend of May 28-29 (next Sat-Sun), all Extra-ordinary Ministers of Communion (EMC) are invited to renew their commitment to serve in the Parish. The re-commissioning will take place at every Mass. EMC’s are kindly asked to sign in with the sacristan before Mass.


Soup KitchenSoup Kitchen

On Jun 3 (Fri lunchtime), our Parish will help out at the Soup Kitchen. Anyone interested in helping out or in contributing to the Soup Kitchen is kindly asked to contact Sr. Merlyn at srmerlyn@yahoo.com.

Other Services


At St. John XXIII Parish, a number of Masses and other services are celebrated such as:

  • Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place in the Parish Chapel at Montbrillant every Friday from 18:00 to 19:00 except for the first Friday of every month when it takes place at 13:15.
  • Marriage: All couples planning to marry should register with us by calling the Parish Office. (Six months notice is the usual requirement.).
  • Funeral Services (Please contact the Parish Priest directly).
  • Baptism Services every 4th Saturday of the month at 12 noon except during the Christmas and Easter Seasons (Contact the Parish Office for more information).
  • The Sacrament of reconciliation (Confession) is available before and after each weekday Mass upon request or by prior arrangement. It will also be offered in the Chapel every Saturday from 17:15-18:00

Trinity

Fittingly, today’s readings reflect the mystery of the Triune God.

The author of the Book of Proverbs, alluding to the Person of the Holy Spirit, writes of God’s wisdom which is infinite.  How often, in our limited minds and smallness of faith, do we seek to “measure” God.  How easily we tend to “quantify” the Spirit’s actions in accord with our own standards, whilst failing to remember that, if our hearts are open, His providence will indeed reveal to us the Father.
