At the usual Mass times on the weekend of Nov 1-2, we commemorate the souls of the departed.

Let us remember in our prayers the youth of our Parish who will participate and lead the Kairos Retreat (24-26 Oct). May their hearts and minds be open to the presence of Christ at work in their lives.


altar_server Altar Servers’ Training Workshop

Are you interested in becoming an altar server?All children who are practicing Catholics are more than welcome to join this ministry. You need to be at least 8 years of age, and have received First Holy Communion.

Please come along to a training session on Nov 8 (Sat) at 11:00 in the Church. All current altar servers are invited to attend this meeting.

Walking with Purpose is a wonderful way to dive deeper into our Catholic faith and grow in relationships with other women who are seeking support, friendship and spiritual growth in their own lives. children_choir Children’s Choir

Well, it’s that time of year again to call all children of the Parish between the ages of 7 and 17 to come join the Children’s Christmas Eve choir which will sing for the Christmas Eve children’s Nativity Mass on Dec 24 at 17:00. Rehearsals begin on Nov 9 (Sun), so if you’d like to join the choir or ask any questions, please call the Parish Office.

Other Services


At Pope John XXIII Parish, a number of Masses and other services are celebrated such as:

  • Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place in the Parish Chapel at Montbrillant every Friday from 18:00 to 19:00 except for the first Friday of every month when it takes place at 13:15.
  • Marriage: All couples planning to marry should register with us by calling the Parish Office. (Six months notice is the usual requirement.).
  • Funeral Services (Please contact the Parish Priest directly).
  • Baptism Services every 4th Saturday of the month at 12 noon except during the Christmas and Easter Seasons (Contact the Parish Office for more information).
  • The Sacrament of reconciliation (Confession) is available before and after each weekday Mass upon request or by prior arrangement. It will also be offered in the Chapel every Saturday from 17:15-18:00

Coin“Tell us, then, what is your opinion: Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or not?”  (Mt. 22:17)

With Characters and motivations aside, the question posed to Jesus is a brilliant one from a strategic point of view. If Jesus said that it was unlawful or unethical to pay the Census Tax, then he would be immediately labeled as an insurgent and a revolutionary and reported to the Roman Government. On the other hand, if Jesus said that it was lawful and ethical to pay the Census Tax, then he would discredit himself in the midst of the Jews that had gathered; for it would be as if Jesus was acknowledging a king on par or superseding God.
