Our Kermesse at John XXIII is an expression of our Parish’s international fellowship and our commitment to community. Our great team spirit helps to raise funds for the charities we support, as well as our own parish needs, and helps to bring together our large “parish family”. A sincere THANK YOU to all who contributed towards the success of our Kermesse 2014.
The community spirit and engagement of everyone (entertainers, spectators, donors, volunteers and participants was truly amazing!

The Friday Family Feast showcased heart-warming performances from arias, solos and duets to memorable skits, dances and recitals – what formidable talent we have in the parish!!
The picture perfect weather on Saturday was a great outdoor day to savour the array of international cuisine, enjoy children’s’ games as well as bargain shopping.

Through the fun, fellowship and festivity, we raised a net proceed of CHF 60,816 (Note: Subject to change based on other income & cost items yet to come in after this publication.).
Thank you all for your generosity and may you be truly blessed.

GOSPEL THEMES THROUGH THE MONTH OF AUGUST

Over the next five Sundays of August, we are presented with a varied selection of snapshots of the ministry of Jesus, as seen through the eyes of the Evangelist Matthew.  On August 2-3, the 18th in Ordinary Time, Year A, we witness the miraculous feeding of the multitude by Jesus. For Matthew and his community of ‘Jewish’ Christians, the miracle recalled the Old Testament story of manna in the wilderness of Sinai. Jesus is the new Moses, and in this feeding, the peole saw an anticipation of the Eucharist. The gestures and words he uses are those of the Last Supper, and of the Eucharist: ‘He took the bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave it to them. The Eucharist in turn anticipates the final banquet of the Kingdom to come but also speaks to us of God’s love for us spilling out in all the gifts both material and spiritual we receive through life.
