New and experienced catechists, as well as student assistants for Pre-School to Level 8 classes are needed! To become involved in the programme or to make an enquiry, please contact Jane Gannon (E-mail: rec@johnxxiii.ch or Tel: 022 919 1934. Classes resume on Sep 25 (Sun).

For Confirmation, please note the following important dates:

  • Confirmation Catechist Training: Sep 22 (Thu) at 19:00.
  • Confirmation Year 1 Parents’ Meeting: Sep 25 (Sun) at 10:00.
  • Confirmation Year 2 Parent Meeting: Sep 29 (Thu) at 19:00.
  • Confirmation Year 1 Classes begin: Oct 2 (Sun) at 10:00.
  • Confirmation Year 2 Classes begin: Oct 6 (Thu) at 19:00.

To register for the preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, contact youth@johnxxiii.ch. If you wish to become a catechist or volunteer for the Confirmation programme, kindly contact the Emily Toole at youth@johnxxiii.

Spanish Night

Thank you for all those who made the Spanish Night a memorable event. The night was filled with Spanish music and food that everyone enjoyed. See the pictures below.


Parish Retreat

Our Parish Annual Retreat will take place on 8 Oct (Sat) in the Parish House. We hope that the whole weekend will be an opportunity for the parish to participate on the theme Mary, Mother of Mercy. Please contact Fr. Richard if you are interested in joining the organizing committee.


Youth Bike Trip

John XXIII Youth had a roaring great time cycling around Lac Leman this past weekend. The group was 12 in total, with teens from our church, Westlake Church (Nyon), and La Cote Anglican Church (Divonne). The group explored by bike during the day, camped at night, and took in God’s beautiful creation as they went. The trip concluded with prayer and a BBQ at Coppet Plage on Sunday evening. All cyclists enjoyed the trip greatly and hope to bring it back again in the future! Won’t you join us?


Welcome Weekend

We will be celebrating the Solemnity of St. Nicolas de Flue on Sep 25 (Sun) by welcoming new Parishioners (“Welcome Weekend”).


Lector Ministry

For those interested in serving through the Lector Ministry, auditions will take place in the Church on 21 Sep (Wed) at 19:15 after the evening Mass. For further information, kindly contact the parish office.


Parish Pastoral Council

The Parish Pastoral Council meeting originally scheduled for Sep 19 (Mon) has been postponed to Oct 10 (Mon).

Next luncheon for retired parishioners will take place on Sep 23 (Fri), beginning with Mass at 12.45. During the afternoon we will be looking at the History records of John XXIII, so your help and input would be appreciated. Other Services


At St. John XXIII Parish, a number of Masses and other services are celebrated such as:

  • Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place in the Parish Chapel at Montbrillant every Friday from 18:00 to 19:00 except for the first Friday of every month when it takes place at 13:15.
  • Marriage: All couples planning to marry should register with us by calling the Parish Office. (Six months notice is the usual requirement.).
  • Funeral Services (Please contact the Parish Priest directly).
  • Baptism Services every 4th Saturday of the month at 12 noon except during the Christmas and Easter Seasons (Contact the Parish Office for more information).
  • The Sacrament of reconciliation (Confession) is available before and after each weekday Mass upon request or by prior arrangement. It will also be offered in the Chapel every Saturday from 17:15-18:00

Bulletin


 

Born in 1417 to a pious peasant family, Nicolas stood out for his goodness, simplicity, and mortification. He served his canton both under arms and by holding civic office.  He and his wife, Dorothy, raised five sons and five daughters. Yet God persisted in calling him to a life beyond that of the domestic holiness he had already embraced.
